The Caribbean racing season is well underway, with the Loro Piana Caribbean Superyacht Regatta & Rendezvous held on 9-12 March 2016 and the St Barths Bucket Regatta, running 17-20 March, about to start. These superyacht regattas follow on from the RORC Caribbean 600 in February, won by Doyle customer Proteus, with her win marking the third Doyle win in in a row at this race.
The superyacht and maxi racing scene is very important to Doyle as it helps us to develop incredibly advanced sail technology which in turn has a trickle down effect on all our sails, from One Design through to the world’s biggest. Our team works closely with the yachts and owners on their campaigns to help them optimise their racing package and get the most out of their yachts.
The Loro Piana Caribbean Superyacht Regatta and Rendezvous saw a great representation from Doyle Stratis yachts, with results including P2’s win in class B, Ohana third place in Class C, and Blues third place in Class D. It was great to see so many Doyle customers out on the course including Elfje, Atalante, Clan VIII and the mighty Perseus^3. “Conditions at the Loro Piana regatta were excellent, we had some great racing and our sails performed well,” says David Duff, Director at Doyle Sails New Zealand who was racing on board the Doyle-powered Elfje together with Mike Sanderson, Director and Head of Sales at Doyle Sails NZ.
